In the event of an emergency, it is crucial that all members of the community receive the proper notification, information, and resources from trusted and reliable sources. We are proud to be partnering with the University of Georgia’s College of Public Health and with the Athens-Clarke County Emergency Management Office in order to better serve and prepare our local community for all types of disasters.
With guidance from the Northeast Health District’s Office of Emergency Preparedness & Response and the Athens-Clarke County Emergency Management Office, graduate students at UGA participate in a service learning project by reaching out to the individuals and groups that may be particularly vulnerable during a disaster. The purpose of this project is to identify who may be vulnerable during an emergency, to assess the emergency preparedness needs these potentially vulnerable individuals and groups may have, and to assist with the development of emergency preparedness plans specific to those needs.
