Why is it Important for Women to get Regular Check-ups?
Regular checkups are vital for the early detection of heart disease, cancer, sexually transmitted infections and other conditions. We encourage you to contact your health department to schedule preventive check-ups and get important health screenings.
Preventive check-ups are an ideal time to discuss with our healthcare professionals which screenings and tests are right for you, when you should have them, and how often. Some women, due to medical history or lifestyle need certain screening tests earlier or more often than other women.
Health screening assessments, such as HIV and TB skin tests, high blood pressure, cancer and Pap tests can find diseases early when they are easy to treat. In addition, screenings and routine care can help you lower the risks of many health conditions, including obesity, human papillomavirus (HPV) and stroke.
Most of the screenings and tests are low- or no cost, and some services may be covered by insurance. Many of the screenings and tests may be available on a walk-in basis.
